If you like rural living close to the mountains yet with commuting distance of Spartanburg Campobello might be your town. Campobello features a very small population (502 per the 2010 Census) and is located near the intersection of Interstate 26 and SC Hwy 11. This means that you'll live in an incredibly scenic area without the stress and traffic of a larger town or city and you can enjoy the many farms, historical landmarks, and outdoor activities that are available along the Highway 11 Scenic Highway.
The town's name comes from the Italian phrase "Camo Bella" meaning 'beautiful field'. According to town government this phrase was uttered by a friend of the farmer who owned the land who later named the family plantation home Campobello and the name carried on when the area was incorporated into a municipality.
Campobello is known for the annual Plum Hollow Festival and Moonshiner's Reunion both featuring mountain crafts, bluegrass music, and lots of great food and drink perhaps even including a wee bit of (legal) moonshine! Local businesses include The Dutch Plate Family Restaurant, Carolina Soap Lady, and The Dog House Cafe. If you're looking for one foot in Upstate's future and one foot in our heritage Campobello might be the town you're looking for.
